Mommadog 1995 – 2010
When we picked up our Mommadog at the shelter on a fall day of 1996, she was about a year old, skinny, with a couple of her remaining puppies in the kennel next to her. The staff had named her Momma, a name we kept and added to over the years. Mommadog, Mamacita, Gorgeous, Precious, Princess…many terms of endearment that reflected our endless affection for her.
She was shy, and remained that way for the entire thirteen and a half years with us. Always a bit wary of others and unfamiliar surroundings, she trusted us to protect her from whatever horrors she had apparently witnessed or endured during her first year before she became part of our family.
Mommadog, my sweet girl – you were one of life’s finest gifts to us, and we will always be grateful for the many good years we spent together. It’s hard to imagine life without caressing your ears, waking up to your presence, sharing a treat or a walk with you, and meeting your gaze from across the room where you kept watch over us so contentedly. We love you and we miss you so much – you will always be a part of us.
